We continue to work on requests related to the observance of the rights of convicts. Azat Khusaenov, an employee of the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Tatarstan, and our public assistant Gulia Balafendieva visited the Federal State Institution Correctional Colony No. 10 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan in the city of Mendeleyevsk in connection with the request of the mother of one of the convicts.
They had a conversation with the convict himself, during which it was revealed that the conditions of detention meet the requirements of the law, and the issue raised in the request concerned exclusively medical care. They explained to him in detail the procedure for contacting specialists.
During the visit, they also talked with other convicts who were at the doctor's office, as well as with persons held in the premises for pensioners and people with disabilities. The questions of the convicts mainly concerned appeals against sentences and the procedure for sending requests to various authorities.
There were no complaints from the convicts about the conditions of detention and food.
