A visit to the correctional center was conducted at the collective request of convicts
Azat Khusainov, Lead Consultant for the Department for the Restoration of Citizens' Rights at the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Republic of Tatarstan, visited Correctional Center No. 1 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan as part of an on-site event following a collective appeal from inmates serving forced labor sentences.
The inmates serving sentences at the correctional center requested an inspection of the facility's administration, highlighting possible violations of their rights. We had previously received similar inquiries, which is why the on-site event was organized. In addition, inquiries regarding the responsibilities of other agencies were sent to the Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation and the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan.
During the visit, problematic issues related to the execution of sentences were discussed and oral recommendations were made to the facility's administration in accordance with current Russian legislation.
The inspection is ongoing, and we remain monitoring the situation! We are awaiting the results of the departmental inspections and the supervisory authority.
