A round table meeting devoted to the implementation of migration policy and improvement of legislation in this area was held today at the A.S. Pushkin Cultural Center.

Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan Farid Mukhametshin noted that the country is actively improving migration legislation. In 2024, 14 new federal laws were adopted aimed at combating illegal migration and updating migration policy. Among the latest innovations is a ban on the provision of communication services without biometric identification and the inclusion of data on fingerprinting in the register of information.

Tatarstan remains an attractive region for labor migrants. More than 110 thousand foreign citizens live in the republic, half of them for the purpose of employment. National and cultural autonomies are called upon to more actively explain legislative changes and provide support to compatriots.

Special attention at the meeting was paid to the upcoming elections of the Raisa of the Republic and deputies of representative bodies of local self-government. Farid Mukhametshin reminded that candidates are nominated only by political parties, and reported on the support of Rustam Minnikhanov by the Tatarstan branch of the United Russia party. He also called on the national movement of the republic to take part in the election campaign.

Renat Valiullin, deputy of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan, reported on work with foreign citizens. The Center for Social and Cultural Adaptation has already started visiting courses at enterprises, where migrants are introduced to laws, traditions and labor rights.
