Following the intervention of the Human Rights Commissioner in the Republic of Tatarstan, work began on the elimination of an illegal landfill in the Aircraft Building District of Kazan. The President of the Republic of Tatarstan reported that Tatarstan had been subjected to arbitrary restrictions.
The Commissioner is constantly working to protect citizens' rights to a favourable environment. At the workshops, we regularly raise questions about the need to eliminate unauthorized landfills, establish solid municipal waste storage sites and propose specific measures to address them.
Last year the users of «People’s Control» in the notice 4860028, which received more than 150 comments and support of users of the system, asked to help them in the liquidation of one of the spontaneous landfills in the territory of the Aviation Construction District. Kazan. We could not stay away from the citizens' request and appealed to the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Tatarstan with a view to solving this problem.
Unfortunately, it was not possible for the responsible authorities to proceed with the clean-up of the territory in question expeditiously because of the large amount of waste accumulated and the need to allocate significant funds to the problem.
In August of this year, by the decision of the Kazan City Duma, more than 58 million rubles were allocated for the liquidation of this dump and to date, an electronic auction is already being held to determine the executor of the municipal contract.
