We held a Legal Aid Day for Convicts at Correctional Colony No. 2 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan.
During the event, consultations were provided to convicts by representatives of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan, the Ministry of Justice of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan, the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Kazan Employment Center, the Ministry of Labor, Employment, and Social Protection of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Federal Penitentiary Service Medical Unit No. 16, the Social Fund of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan, as well as a lawyer and a notary.
A total of 11 convicts sought legal assistance. They were concerned about issues such as replacing the unserved portion of their sentence with forced labor, reinstatement of disability status, the assignment of a survivor's pension, the provision of housing for orphans, and medical care. Several applicants had inquiries related to their current sentences. All questions were carefully considered. Applicants were provided with the necessary clarifications within the framework of current Russian Federation legislation.
I believe it is important for convicts to understand their rights and the legally established ways to exercise them. This is precisely why we regularly hold Legal Aid Days!
