The Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Tatarstan received an appeal from citizen P. in the interests of his brother, convicted citizen A., about disagreement with the actions of the staff of the Federal Penitentiary Institution Correctional Center No. 1 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan and the disciplinary penalty imposed.
In order to protect the applicant's rights, we asked the prosecutor of the Moskovsky district of Kazan to verify the legality and validity of the imposition of penalties on convicted A. and, if there are grounds, to take prosecutorial response measures.
According to the results of the inspection by the district prosecutor's office, it was established that earlier, following a similar appeal from the convict himself, a protest for disciplinary action was brought to the head of the correctional center.
The penalty has now been lifted. The convict was given back the right to live outside the institution with his family.
