The final board meeting of the Federal Penitentiary Service for the Republic of Tatarstan was held in Kazan. The meeting summarized the activities of the republic's penal system for 2025 and outlined objectives for the current period.
Tatarstan has created conditions for the accommodation and employment of those sentenced to forced labor. Correctional Center No. 1 and eight of its sites, housed at enterprises and organizations, have been established and are operational to administer this type of punishment. The total occupancy limit is 1,226 inmates.
The implementation of the provisions of the Federal Law "On Probation in the Russian Federation" continues. In November 2025, permission was received to open a new pretrial detention facility in Kazan with 1,000 beds.
During the meeting, efforts to develop the production activities of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan were noted. Contracts for the manufacture of light industry products and furniture worth over 62 million rubles have been signed with state and municipal customers.
Particular attention is paid to vocational training for convicts. In 2025, 1,591 people received training in 30 in-demand professions.
