A meeting of the Expert Council on the protection of human rights and freedoms in criminal proceedings and in places of forced detention was held
Today, the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Tatarstan hosted a meeting of the Expert Council dedicated to the protection of human rights and freedoms in criminal proceedings and in places of forced detention.
In 2025, we continued systematic and consistent work in this area. During the year, we provided 13 Days of legal assistance to convicts in institutions of forced detention. As part of these events, 112 convicts applied for legal assistance.
Inspections of temporary detention facilities in 20 district and city police departments were conducted jointly with representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan. According to the results of the inspections, no significant violations of the conditions of detention were revealed - in most cases, the premises comply with sanitary and safety standards.
Following the meeting, proposals and recommendations were developed.
