We visited a military unit in the Republic of Karelia

12 December 2025, Friday

Staff from the Office of the Human Rights Commissioner of the Republic of Tatarstan visited a military unit in Petrozavodsk, Republic of Karelia, where our young men from Tatarstan serve.

During the meeting, we briefed the service members on the Office's activities and its work with conscripts, explained the situations in which they and their families can seek assistance, and explained the types of issues we support.

We inspected the conscripts' conditions of service: they visited the barracks, recreation rooms, mess hall, and the infirmary, which can accommodate 30 people. The unit's command provided detailed information on the personnel's provisions, living conditions, recreation, and medical care.

As per tradition, we presented our young men with a chak-chak - a small piece of our native Tatarstan. They are all great men! We are sincerely proud of them and look forward to welcoming them home.
