Today, the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Republic of Tatarstan held a telephone hotline on the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities.
During its operation, we received 135 calls, confirming the high demand for this topic among residents of the republic.
Citizens' questions concerned medication provision, particularly for privileged categories of citizens, the provision of spa treatment, the provision of technical rehabilitation equipment, the organization of an accessible environment, and the receipt of housing and utility benefits. Former participants of the SVO also inquired about rehabilitation.
Consultations were provided by deputies of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan "Merhemet - Mercy," the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Ministry of Labor, Employment, and Social Protection of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Social Fund of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Tatarstan, the Ministry of Youth Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan, and the Executive Committee of the City of Kazan. Some issues were resolved immediately, while others will be taken forward for further work.
Today, we heard a wide variety of questions, but they all point to one thing: citizens with disabilities need timely assistance and support. Our hotlines, in turn, continue to help people resolve specific issues and identify systemic challenges that require attention.
