Today, the Civic Chamber of the Republic of Tatarstan held a roundtable discussion on "Healthcare. Providing Planned Medical Care to People in Difficult Situations." The meeting discussed protecting the rights of homeless people and the measures being implemented in the region to provide them with medical, social, and other support.
During the discussion, several proposals for improving this work were made. We noted the need to create a special mechanism for homeless people to submit requests to government agencies. Currently, submitting a request requires identification, but homeless people often lack such documents. Therefore, the development of a clear and accessible tool for their interaction with government agencies remains extremely pressing.
Following the meeting, I held a working meeting with Olga Demicheva, a member of the Presidential Council for Civil Society and Human Rights, who also participated in the roundtable. I was pleased to welcome her to our Office!
