Today, I met with international students from Turkmenistan studying at Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University.
I told the students about our region, explaining that Tatarstan has always been and remains a land of equal opportunity, security, and interethnic harmony. It is a region with a strong economy, a high quality of life, a developed education system, and accessible healthcare.
Tatarstan is rightfully considered an example of the harmonious coexistence of cultures and religions. Our land carefully preserves a balance in which representatives of more than 175 nationalities coexist peacefully. And most importantly, this balance includes those who come here from other countries to study, work, and develop.
I also spoke about the work of the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Republic of Tatarstan, which celebrated its 25th anniversary this year. Over these years, a system has been established aimed at protecting the rights and freedoms of every person living in the republic. We've held numerous events, consultations, and meetings to help people navigate difficult situations and find support.
We also discussed compliance with immigration and labor laws, respect for our country's traditions, culture, and public order.
I'm confident that such events help international students better understand social processes, feel more confident in a new environment, and, most importantly, feel like Tatarstan is their second home.
