Today, together with a working group, staff from the Office of the Human Rights Commissioner of the Republic of Tatarstan traveled to the Zelenodolsk District in response to a complaint from citizen R., received through the ESIS GLONASS+112.
The complaint concerned the activities of the Ak Kaen boarding house, a private nursing home for senior citizens called "The Heart of Harmony." Citizen R. indicated that citizen T., born in 1941, was being held at the facility and had previously complained of improper treatment. According to the complainant, citizen T. is currently being held in isolation, and access to her is prohibited to third parties.
During the visit, we thoroughly inspected the conditions of detention for the residents, interviewed them, and confirmed that no complaints had been received regarding the complaint and that the conditions met the standards. The information contained in the complaint was not confirmed.
