Today, a meeting of the Constitutional Council of the Republic of Tatarstan was held to consider the appeal of citizen Yu. to review the constitutionality of Article 6, Section 1, of the Law of the Republic of Tatarstan dated July 21, 2023, No. 71 "On the Organization of Passenger and Baggage Transportation by Taxis in the Republic of Tatarstan."
The applicant believed that the requirement for a uniform color scheme for taxis was excessive and unreasonably restrictive of entrepreneurial activity.
At the meeting, the Commissioner's representative presented a reasoned position on the current situation, based on the requirements of current legislation and the need to respect citizens' rights. In particular, arguments were presented regarding the compliance of the contested provision with the Constitution of the Republic of Tatarstan and federal legislation regarding the organization of passenger and baggage transportation by taxi. The importance of balancing the interests of passengers and entrepreneurs in implementing the provisions of this law was also emphasized.
The Council retired to consider its decision; a final decision on the appeal will be made at a later date.
