Today, the VII Scientific and Practical Conference "Municipal Solid Waste: Legislation and Practice" continued in Kazan. Representatives of federal and regional authorities, industry experts, heads of regional operators and specialized associations took part in the work.
The program of the second day included a plenary session and thematic sections devoted to issues of tariff and antimonopoly regulation, as well as the exchange of experience of regional operators.
Over the past six years, the system of handling municipal solid waste in Tatarstan has undergone serious changes. Thus, more than 22 thousand containers have been replaced, the number of requests from residents on waste removal issues has significantly decreased. More than 13 million cubic meters of waste are generated in the republic annually, and today there are five waste sorting stations and two transfer stations in operation.
The key tasks remain the stimulation of recycling, the introduction of modern technologies for optimizing tariff regulation and the creation of transparent mechanisms for extended responsibility of producers. The creation of an effective waste management system is one of the tasks set by Russian President Vladimir Putin within the framework of the national project "Environmental Well-Being". By 2030, it is necessary to ensure 100% sorting of municipal solid waste and reduce the volume of landfills by half.
