Today was a busy day. Together with our colleagues - human rights commissioners from the regions of Russia and the Republic of Abkhazia - we got acquainted with the social, educational and rehabilitation institutions of Tatarstan. All the sites we visited were chosen taking into account the theme of our upcoming conference.
So, we visited:
✅ At the State Autonomous Professional Educational Institution "Kazan College of Folk Arts and Crafts" we showed guests how traditional types of crafts of Tatarstan are preserved and developed. It is joyful to see how talent and skill are passed down from generation to generation, and national crafts find their place in modern life.
✅ At the Municipal Budgetary Educational Institution "Secondary School No. 79" we got acquainted with the organization of inclusive education. The school successfully works with children with mental disabilities.
✅ In the Federal Penitentiary Institution Penal colony No. 19 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan, our colleagues were introduced to the conditions of inmates and the work of rehabilitation units that help people with addictions return to normal life.
✅ We visited the non-profit organization social rehabilitation center “Human Shelter” and introduced the guests to the organization’s activities. It provides large-scale assistance to those who find themselves in a difficult life situation: food, clothing, medical care, legal and psychological support. Every day, people come here, for whom this center becomes a point of support in difficult times.
✅ In the Yardam-Help Charitable Foundation, we were told about projects that are being implemented to support citizens with various difficulties, including support for blind citizens.
✅ The final stage of our excursion was the State Autonomous Healthcare Institution “City Clinical Hospital No. 7 named after M.N. Sadykova", where we introduced our guests to the hospital's rehabilitation center, where patients are recovering, including participants in a special military operation. All conditions for high-quality treatment and psychological support have been created for them; the center is designed for 100 beds.
We saw in practice how the most important tasks of supporting various categories of citizens are being implemented in the region. And tomorrow our colleagues will take part in a conference dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Institute of the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Tatarstan. This will be an important platform for exchanging experiences, discussing current issues and finding new ways to further develop our common work to protect human rights.
