Due to the Ombudsman, the penalties were lifted from the convict
The Office of the Ombudsman for Human Rights in the Republic of Tatarstan received an appeal from the convict L., who is serving her sentence in Federal Penitentiary Institution hospital-type penitentiary institution-7 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Chuvash Republic-Chuvashia. The applicant disagreed with the punishment imposed on her during her stay in jail-1 of the Udmurt Republic. According to the convict, the reprimand had been imposed in breach of the provisions of the legislation in force.
In response to the appeal, the Ombudsman sent an enquiry to the prosecutor of the Udmurt Republic with a request to check the validity and legality of the penalty imposed. Following the results of the inspection, the prosecutor confirmed that the penalty was imposed in violation of the requirements of Federal Law No. 103 of 15.07.1995 “On the detention of persons suspected or accused of committing a crime”.
Consequently, the penalty was cancelled.
