Public assistant to the Ombudsman Gulia Balafendieva held events dedicated to the prevention of HIV infection in correctional institutions of the Republic of Tatarstan

In the summer, my public assistant Gulia Balafendieva held events in correctional facilities of the Republic of Tatarstan dedicated to the prevention of HIV infection.

As part of these events, lectures were organized to raise awareness about HIV and how to prevent it. During this time, more than 1,000 people attended the lectures.

In addition, the project team conducted anonymous rapid HIV tests, which allowed participants to obtain important information about their health. Such events not only help to spread knowledge about HIV, but also create a safe space for discussing personal problems and issues, which is already a major step towards improving the quality of life of prisoners.
