Today, a meeting of the Coordinating Council of Commissioners for Human Rights in the Volga Federal District of the Russian Federation was held in Perm. The topic was "Youth Participation in Human Rights Protection." She moderated the event and presented the experience of the Republic of Tatarstan.
She noted that protecting youth rights today requires not only oversight but also the active participation of young people themselves. We pay special attention to young people in our work – we provide legal education, free legal assistance, implement joint projects, and consider appeals from young people. We regularly hold lectures on human rights at universities, including for international students.
Our republic has developed an effective youth policy system. The Ministry of Youth Affairs of Tatarstan is developing a network of youth associations, which are becoming a real tool for human rights protection. Among them were the Students' League of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Republican Center for Student Labor Brigades, the Agrarian Youth Association of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Youth Parliament under the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan, and others.
Following the meeting, recommendations were developed aimed at developing mechanisms for youth participation in human rights activities. These recommendations will be submitted to the competent government agencies for further consideration and implementation.
Systematic work with young people and their involvement in human rights activities are an important foundation for the further development of civil society institutions!
