Creation of conditions for sustainable development of accessible environment for people with disabilities and other low mobility groups is one of the significant goals of the state policy in the field of social protection of people with disabilities.
In turn, the office pays special attention to the issues of organization of accessible environment for citizens with disabilities when considering appeals.
The report on the activities of the Commissioner in 2023 highlighted the problem of violation of the rights of persons with disabilities to an accessible environment. Taking into account the identified problematic issues in the field of ensuring unimpeded access and movement of people with disabilities, an employee of the Office sent his recommendations to the heads of sanatoriums to take measures to protect the rights of persons with disabilities and persons with disabilities.
At the same time, a letter was sent to the Prosecutor of the Republic of Tatarstan with a request to conduct inspections in organizations providing health resort services.
Thus, based on this letter, the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic sent instructions to the prosecutors of a number of municipal districts, as well as urban districts to conduct inspections of the accessibility of sanatoriums and resorts for persons with disabilities.
In the course of these inspections, numerous violations of legislation in the area of accessibility of buildings for persons with disabilities were revealed in the activities of some sanatoriums and resorts. As a result of these inspections, proposals were made to the heads of sanatoriums and resorts to eliminate the identified violations of legislation and to bring the guilty officials to disciplinary responsibility.
It is necessary to study each issue carefully and in detail in order to know and understand “what and how” to change for the most comfortable life of Tatarstan residents.
