These days, a large-scale prisoner exchange is taking place between Russia and Ukraine in the "1000 for 1000" format. It became possible thanks to the first direct negotiations in three years, which took place last week in Istanbul.
The first stage of the exchange took place on May 23 - both sides transferred 270 military personnel and 120 civilians.
The second stage took place today. Another 307 Russian military personnel were returned from the territory of Ukraine. In exchange, the Russian side transferred 307 prisoners of war of the Ukrainian armed forces.
