9 December 2024, Monday

The focus is on the rights of citizens in the field of social services

Today, a meeting of the Expert Council under the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Tatarstan was held. The main topic of the meeting was the observance and protection of the social rights of citizens.

We discussed the most pressing issues faced by residents of the republic: provision of technical means of rehabilitation, access to social services, protection of the rights of military personnel and their families, as well as problems of persons with disabilities and elderly citizens.

Particular attention was paid to interaction with government agencies and public organizations. Thus, over the past year, we have held 24 receptions of citizens together with lawyers and notaries, organized 8 Legal Aid Days and 7 telephone hotlines, within the framework of which hundreds of residents of Tatarstan received assistance.

Measures to support persons without a fixed abode were also discussed. Since the beginning of the year, 451 messages about homeless citizens have been received through the ESIS "GLONASS+112" system, while in recent months an increase in requests has been noted. To solve the problem, we sent letters to the Minister of Internal Affairs and the heads of the executive committees of the municipal districts of the Republic of Tatarstan with a proposal to strengthen joint work to provide assistance to such people.

We thank all participants of the meeting for their active participation and concern for the issues of protecting the rights of citizens!
