Today, the Ombudsman for Tatarstan, Sariya Saburskaya, visited three boarding houses for the elderly
People over 80 years need care and attention, many of them have deteriorating health by this age. It is more difficult for them to perform even the simplest household tasks - go to the store, clean the house, cook dinner.
Unfortunately, there are situations when there is no one to look after them, and relatives resort to the services of specialized homes, where they will be provided with decent care. We are obliged to provide our elderly citizens with physiological, physical and emotional safety.
The boarding houses "Tree of Life", "Good Stories" and "Sputnik" were visited today as part of monitoring the observance of the rights of elderly citizens. It is worth noting that we made a number of comments on the visited facilities: improper storage of technical rehabilitation equipment, keeping logs of calls to "ambulances", organizing an "accessible environment", etc.
The management of the boarding houses accepted our recommendations positively, and they promised to eliminate all the shortcomings. Next week we have planned to hold a "round table" with an invitation to interested ministries and departments, deputies of the State Council of Tatarstan, as well as the heads of the boarding houses.
I am confident that we will develop a number of proposals to improve the work of private boarding houses, which will help ensure our elderly citizens a dignified and peaceful old age.
