17 October the Commissioner for human rights hosted a meeting with experts of the Advisory Committee of the framework Convention for the protection of national minorities with the participation of the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry in Kazan Radik Vakhitov, Director of the Center for legal assistance to migrants and other socially vulnerable segments of the population RT "Legal clinic" of Gulya Balafendieva and head low-threshold services for vulnerable groups Autonomous charitable non-profit organization "New century" Lily Gurenkova.
In the period from 16 to 24 October 2017, the Advisory Committee of the framework Convention of the Council of Europe on the protection of national minorities is carrying out a monitoring visit to Russia to monitor the implementation of the Russian Federation's obligations under the framework Convention. This international document was ratified by the Federal law of the Russian Federation of June 18, 1998 N 84-FL.
The delegation included members of the Advisory Committee and the Secretariat of the Council of Europe framework Convention for the protection of national minorities, namely:
Petra Roter - member of the Advisory Committee from Slovenia;
Craig Oliphant-member of the Advisory Committee from the UK;
Erzsebet Sandor-Sallai-Member of the Advisory Committee of Hungary;
Agnes von Maravic - Administrator of the Secretariat;
Jorg Horn- Administrator of the Secretariat of the European Charter for regional and minority languages.
During the meeting, Tatarstan Ombudsman presented the experience of the Republic of Tatarstan in respect of human rights in the field of interethnic relations, prevention and suppression of discrimination, and spoke about the measures taken in the Republic to ensure interethnic unity and formulated in the Strategy on human rights in the Republic of Tatarstan for 2014-2018. Saria Saburskaya stressed the role of such organizations as the House of Friendship of Nations and the Assembly of Nations of Tatarstan, implementing projects aimed at preserving the ethnic and cultural diversity of the peoples of the Republic of Tatarstan, strengthening the civil unity of the multinational people of the Republic of Tatarstan, the harmonization of interethnic relations.
