The appeal has been resolved positively!

The Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Republic of Tatarstan received an appeal from citizen S. on behalf of citizen T. regarding the delay in the pre-investigation investigation into the death of her son in a Kazan medical facility.

The appeal stated that, based on the investigation findings, numerous decisions had been made to refuse to initiate a criminal case. Furthermore, the necessary procedural steps had not been taken for a long time – medical workers involved in the surgical interventions had not been interviewed, citizen T. had not been questioned, and a post-mortem forensic examination had not been ordered.

To protect citizens' rights and ensure an objective review of the situation, we contacted the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Tatarstan. Following the review of the appeal, it was determined that the Investigative Department for the Novo-Savinovsky District of the City of Kazan of the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Tatarstan has opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The applicant's arguments will be reviewed during the preliminary investigation.

Following our interactions with the prosecutor's office, we were able to secure a procedural decision on this appeal!
