Today, a joint meeting of the Committee on Law and Order and the Committee's Expert Council was held at the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan.
The meeting discussed the accident rate on the republic's roads and considered candidates for the election of justices of the peace.
According to the results of 2025, the Republic of Tatarstan recorded an increase in the number of road fatalities. A total of 3,339 accidents were recorded (+1.9%), in which 345 people were killed (+7.5%) and another 4,085 were injured (+1.1%). The increase in fatalities was recorded in 21 municipal districts of the republic.
The most frequent accidents occurred on local roads (2,324 incidents), followed by 544 on regional and inter-municipal roads, and 471 on federal highways. Furthermore, 132 accident-prone sections of the road network have been identified in the republic.
As one measure to prevent accidents involving child passengers, it has been proposed to increase penalties for serious traffic violations, such as drunk driving and driving into oncoming traffic with minors in the vehicle. It has also been noted that special attention should be paid to preventative work with parents.
