Today, a meeting of the Coordinating Council of Commissioners for Human Rights in the constituent entities of the Volga Federal District of the Russian Federation was held via videoconference. The topic was "Legal Education of Citizens".
During the meeting, colleagues from the regions of the Volga Federal District presented their practices and projects in the area of legal education. They discussed effective formats for interacting with various categories of citizens and exchanged experiences and approaches to organizing this work.
I also shared the experience of the Republic of Tatarstan in the area of legal education for citizens. We are currently implementing a wide range of legal education projects targeting various categories of citizens. These include School of Legal Knowledge classes for parents of children with disabilities, students of the "University of the Third Age," conscripts and their parents; Legal Aid Days in correctional facilities, for international students, and military personnel undergoing treatment and rehabilitation; citizen receptions with staff of the Bar and Notary Chambers of the Republic of Tatarstan at the Office; themed telephone hotlines; events as part of the All-Russian "Unified Human Rights Lesson" campaign; and media outreach.
She particularly noted the significant contribution of our public assistants, who conduct extensive legal education work directly in the republic's municipal districts, maintaining constant contact with residents and providing the necessary on-the-ground advisory support.
Following the meeting, a decision was made that will be sent to the relevant ministries and agencies.
I am confident that the exchange of best regional practices will contribute to the further development of the legal education system, thereby raising the level of legal awareness among citizens and more effectively protecting their rights and legitimate interests!
