The draft budget of the Republic of Tatarstan for 2026 and the planning period for 2027 and 2028 was discussed today at a meeting of the Committee on Education, Culture, Science, and National Affairs. Deputies were also briefed on theaters and theatrical activities.
First Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Tatarstan Oleg Pelevin presented a socioeconomic development forecast. According to the forecast, GRP growth in 2026 will be 102.1%, in 2027 - 102.3%, and in 2028 -102.4%. GRP in 2026 is projected to be 5.78 trillion rubles. Industry remains the backbone of the republic's economy, with the production index expected to reach 101.7% in 2026.
In 2026, 201.1 billion rubles have been allocated for education, and 27.7 billion for culture and cinema. Particular attention was proposed to be given to the major renovation of kindergartens and supplementary education facilities.
The development of theater in Tatarstan was also discussed. Currently, 39 theaters operate in the republic, including the Musa Jalil Tatar Academic State Opera and Ballet Theater, the V.I. Kachalov Kazan State Academic Russian Bolshoi Drama Theater, the G. Kamal Tatar State Academic Theater, and others. In 2024, 100 premieres were held, with over 4,000 productions attended by 1.6 million spectators.
The opening of new theater buildings for two theaters - the Galiasgar Kamal Tatar State Academic Theater in Kazan and the Masterovy Russian Drama Theater in Naberezhnye Chelny - was one of the most significant events in the history of theater in recent decades.
