The request has been resolved positively!

The Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Republic of Tatarstan received a complaint from the wife of a participant in a special military operation, citizen I. The woman reported that she had been the victim of fraud while purchasing a car: unknown individuals stole almost two million rubles from her.

The complainant had previously contacted the police and the district prosecutor's office, but following an investigation, her request for a criminal case was denied due to the absence of a criminal offense. Since the matter remained unresolved, she turned to us for assistance.

To protect the complainant's rights, we contacted the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Tatarstan with a request to investigate citizen I.'s allegations and, if warranted, to take prosecutorial action.

Following an additional procedural review, a criminal case was opened under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Russian Criminal Code (fraud committed by an organized group or on an especially large scale). The necessary investigative actions are currently underway.

We pay special attention to requests from families of special military operation participants – they need to feel supported and confident that their rights will not go unprotected!
