The IV Kazan Legal Forum opened today in Kazan, featuring a session titled "Constitutional (Statutory) Councils of the Subjects of the Russian Federation in the Mechanism for Ensuring Constitutional Legality: Experience, Problems, and Improving Efficiency."
Participants discussed improving the mechanisms for implementing the powers of constitutional councils in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, the role of these institutions in ensuring the rule of law and protecting citizens' rights. Topics included developing the legislative potential of regional councils, their contribution to legal education and the development of a legal culture among the population, and a comparative analysis of the experience of various regions of the country.
Speakers included representatives of the legal community, public and government figures, business leaders, and academics. The discussion was attended by the chairs of the constitutional councils of Bashkortostan and Yakutia, deputies of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan, and scholars from Kazan, Moscow, and other regions.
The session was moderated by Ilgiz Gilazov, Chairman of the Constitutional Council of the Republic of Tatarstan and Honored Lawyer of the Russian Federation.
