Today, at an extended meeting of the board of the Federal Penitentiary Service of the Republic of Tatarstan, the results of 2024 were summed up and the tasks for 2025 were outlined.
The head of the Federal Penitentiary Service of the Republic of Tatarstan, Eduard Khialeev, noted that the department's activities were focused on implementing the tasks of reforming the penal system. Among the key achievements are a high level of involving convicts in forced labor (99%) and the transfer of more than 50 million rubles to the budget.
The implementation of the provisions on post-penitentiary probation began in 2025. The Federal Penitentiary Service, together with the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan, signed an agreement on cooperation in various areas, and 20 vehicles were transferred to implement probation functions. Currently, 255 agreements have been concluded with regional ministries and other organizations to assist in the social adaptation of convicts.
Much attention is paid to the resocialization and preparation of convicts for release, through interaction with the ombudsmen for human rights and children's rights in the Republic of Tatarstan. Convicts participate in such projects as "House of Diligence", "Helping Hand", "Step Forward" and others. In 2024, 308 convicts applied to The Federal Penitentiary Service institutions for help.
A number of priority tasks are among the tasks for 2025, including the completion of the construction of a new pretrial detention center for 1,000 people in Kazan. Construction work is under the constant supervision of the federal service and the government of the republic.
The Prime Minister of Tatarstan Alexey Pesoshin emphasized that thanks to the coordinated work of government bodies, businesses and the population, Tatarstan has retained its leading positions in key macroeconomic indicators. This year, the implementation of republican programs will continue in full.
