A round table meeting was held in the House of Friendship of the Peoples of Tatarstan, where issues of implementing migration policy in the republic, as well as legislative innovations in migration legislation, were discussed.
“In order to ensure controllability of the current migration situation in the republic, an Agreement on cooperation in the field of migration policy was concluded between the Assembly of the Peoples of Tatarstan, ministries and departments of the republic and, consequently, an agreement was reached on holding a quarterly round table in an expanded format,” the head of parliament emphasized.
Last year, 14 new federal laws were adopted aimed at combating illegal migration, as well as improving migration policy. In particular, the measures taken concerned the mandatory testing of migrant children for knowledge of the Russian language upon admission to school.
“The law was adopted by the State Duma. Now it is important to build a systemic and institutionally supported work on the implementation of these innovations, which will come into effect on April 1 of this year," Farid Mukhametshin emphasized. Last year, more than 99 thousand migrants were registered with the republican migration service. Almost half entered for work (46.2%), 17% each for study and private purposes.
