Together with delegations from the Komi Republic and St. Petersburg, we visited Federal State Institution Penal colony No. 19. The guests were shown how the rehabilitation squads work, helping convicts adapt to life, acquire new skills, and prepare to return to society.
It was especially valuable to hear the opinions of those for whom this program has become a real support.
One of the squad members said: "Before I came here, I did not know what discipline and responsibility were. Thanks to working in the rehabilitation squad, I realized that I can change a lot in my life."
Another convict shared: "For me, this is a chance to start from scratch. Here I learned carpentry, and I already know exactly what I will do when I get out."
We see how important it is to give people the opportunity to change, learn, and find a new path even while serving their sentence.
