For people with disabilities who drive a car or are passengers, the issue of an equipped parking space in the yards of apartment buildings in which they live is particularly acute.
The Commissioner received an appeal from the B. family living in Kazan, where one of the spouses is a disabled person of group 1 and due to his health condition has to visit a medical institution every day. The family asked for assistance in allocating a parking space for parking a car, with the installation of an identification sign “Disabled” near the apartment building of the applicants and the installation of a vertical road sign “Parking for the disabled”.
As reported in this appeal, at the meeting of the apartment building owners it was decided to allocate a parking space for a disabled person on the adjacent territory. However, the parking lot for the disabled person was not arranged.
In order to clarify all the circumstances of the case, as well as to assist the authors of the appeal, I sent letters to the officials of the local government and the management company with a request to make a decision aimed at arrangement of a parking space and installation of a road sign “Parking for the disabled”.
As a result of consideration of my appeals by officials of the management company in the yard of the apartment building of the applicants, a parking space was arranged with the installation of a road sign “Parking for the disabled”.
Concrete assistance to people is the main task of the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Tatarstan.
