Issues of social protection of vulnerable categories of citizens remain one of the most important areas of our activities
Thus, the Commissioner received an appeal from citizen P., a resident of Kazan, with a request to receive inpatient social services for her incapable nephew, who needs constant care and supervision. The text of the application showed that her nephew suffers from a mental illness and has been in a medical institution for a long time. Due to the absence of persons willing to take care of him, the incapacitated citizen could find himself without housing after undergoing treatment.
To assist in resolving this situation, I applied to the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Republic of Tatarstan, the State Autonomous Institution “Republican Psychiatric Hospital named after Acad. V.M. Bekhterev Republican Psychiatric Hospital, as well as the local government.
In the course of consideration of the appeal it was established that the author's nephew has no medical contraindications preventing him from receiving social services in inpatient form. At present, the medical institution is working on the preparation of documents necessary to recognize an incapacitated citizen in need of social services. After receiving the documents, the social protection agency will consider the issue of accepting the author's nephew for social services in a residential home for citizens with mental disorders for inpatient care.
This appeal remains under the control of the Commissioner.
