Tatarstan's Human Rights Commissioner checked the observance of voting rights of persons under investigation

The eighth presidential election started today in Russia. They will last 3 days - from March 15 to 17.

In Tatarstan 65 territorial election commissions with the number of more than 500 people and 2722 precinct commissions have started their work. Another 45 additional polling stations were opened in hospitals, sanatoriums, pre-trial detention centers, at the railway station and at the airport.

On the first day of the elections we monitored the observance of electoral rights of the prisoners on trial in the Federal Penitentiary Correctional Center-3 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan. Here 75 people under investigation pulled out their will, and this is 100% of those who could do it within the walls of the correctional institution. We saw how the voting was organized, visited the punitive isolation ward, cells, and also received one citizen who addressed us with a written appeal.
