On March 3, 2000, 24 years ago, Law No. 95 “On the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Tatarstan” was adopted.
This date marked the beginning of the history of the institution of the Ombudsman in our republic.
Behind these seemingly small terms are the protected rights of tens of thousands of citizens: tens of thousands of citizens' appeals have been considered, hundreds of telephone hotlines and educational events, thousands of receptions of citizens, meetings with the population and interviews have been held. This activity is inscribed in the annals and history of the development of human rights activities in the country.
Our work is not easy at all - to protect people and their rights. Article 2 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation clearly states that a human being, his rights and freedoms are the supreme value. How to preserve and protect this value? How to develop people's trust in the institution of human rights protection and confidence that it is the state that stands up for the protection of their rights? State human rights defenders face a very responsible task, a responsible mission.
Today the Office of the Commissioner is a united team of like-minded people, highly qualified specialists, dedicated to their work! I am sure that in the future our common efforts will be timely and effective.
