Round table on «Providing sanatorium and spa treatment to the privileged categories of citizens and rehabilitation of victims of industrial accidents and occupational diseases»

The treatment of persons with disabilities has always been a major priority in the formation of the social policy of the Russian Federation, which is aimed at providing them with equal opportunities with other citizens in the realization of economic, social, cultural, personal and political rights, provided for in the Constitution of the Russian Federation.

Today, the head of the department for the restoration of citizens' rights of the Office of the Human Rights Commissioner in the Republic of Tatarstan took part in the «round table» on the topic «Providing sanatorium-resort treatment to the privileged categories of citizens and rehabilitation of victims of industrial accidents and occupational diseases», which was held in the Department of the Social Fund of the Russian Federation about the Republic of Tatarstan.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Tatarstan, as well as organizations providing sanatorium and resort services in the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan, including preferential categories of citizens.
The representative of the Office of the Commissioner announced the results of the study visits carried out in the period from September to October this year to organizations providing sanatorium and spa services to citizens in the republic, To ensure that the necessary conditions are in place for a barrier-free environment for persons with disabilities and persons with limited mobility.

Noting the importance of these issues, stressing that ignoring the specific needs of persons with disabilities entails a violation of the provisions of the Federal Law of 24.11.1995 181-FZ «On social protection of persons with disabilities in the Russian Federation», by a representative of the Office of the Commissioner, Proposals have been made to respect the rights of this category of persons.
