In Kazan remand centre, conditions of detention were checked
On May 24, 2023, the Public Supervisory Commission of the Republic of Tatarstan (PSC RT) examined the appeals of remand prisoners and convicts, and also inspected the conditions of detention in the FCU «Pre-trial Detention Facility N2» UFSIN in Tatarstan.
Deputy Chairmen of the Public Supervisory Commission: Chairman of the Presidium of the Union of Public Figures of the Republic of Tatarstan, Honored Coach Alexander Darenkov and Public Assistant to the Human Rights Commissioner of the Republic of Tatarstan, Gulia Balafendiyeva, head of the Legal Clinic of the Republic of Tatarstan, as well as members of the PSC RT: member of the Public Council of the UFSIN for RT, lawyer of the National Charity Fund «Yardam-Aid» Ilya Martyanov and expert of the Public Chamber of the Republic of Tatarstan Dmitry Salimov.
During the inspection, the Commission visited the medical unit, fully inspected the women’s quarters and exercise yards, conducted selective interviews with remand and convicted prisoners, and received detainees and applicants. No irregularities were found in the detention centre. All appeals were taken to work. No complaints were received about the conditions of detention.
