Today, I welcomed the participants of the youth session for people with disabilities, "Omtylysh: About Careers," held as part of the "Love. Create. Inspire" project.
Today, more than 11 million Russians have disabilities, over 700,000 of whom are children. Over 311,000 people with disabilities live in the Republic of Tatarstan. These people especially need to feel supported and cared for by the state and society.
Our Office closely monitors requests from citizens with disabilities. Such requests are always accompanied not only by fact-checking but also by a mandatory on-site visit, whether to an educational institution or a rehabilitation facility.
We pay special attention to creating an accessible environment. A relevant category, "Accessible Environment," is actively implemented in the Tatarstan State Information System "People's Control." This category receives inquiries about existing restrictions for people with disabilities and proposals for creating an accessible environment for them, such as the lack of ramps, special elevators, disabled parking spaces, and other necessary facilities. The Ministry of Labor, Employment, and Social Protection of the Republic of Tatarstan moderates this category.
We also use the issues identified in these inquiries in our legal education project, "School of Legal Knowledge for Parents of Children with Disabilities." Here, specialists from ministries and agencies share their experiences, answer questions, explain support measures, and help families understand the specifics of the procedures.
It's especially gratifying to see that some of the children attended the session for the second year in a row. This demonstrates that the event is truly necessary and useful.
May this youth session become a step toward new opportunities, self-confidence, and bold plans for the future for all participants!
