Expanded opportunities for using maternity capital funds to improve housing conditions
The Government of the Russian Federation continues to work on expanding the options for the use of maternity capital funds for families with children. Now, according to Resolution No. 441 of the Government of the Russian Federation of 09.04.2024, maternity capital funds can be used for the reconstruction of a block building house (a residential house which shares a common wall (or walls) with another residential house and has a separate exit to the land plot).
The funds or part of the maternity capital may be used for the reconstruction of a block construction house or for compensation of such costs, if the reconstruction has already been carried out. In this case, you can reconstruct the housing both on your own and with the help of a construction organization. In the first case, the Pension and Social Insurance Fund will transfer the maternity capital to the account of one of the parents, in the second case - to the account of the construction organization.
The federal law allowing to allocate maternity capital funds for reconstruction of a block building house was signed at the end of 2023. The Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation was prepared for its implementation and applies to legal relations arising from January 5, 2024.
Recall that from February 2024 the amount of maternity capital is increased to 630.4 thousand rubles for the first child and to 833 thousand rubles for the second.
