Putin signed a decree on the status of large families

23 January 2024, Tuesday

Families with three or more children must be considered to have many children, and this status is established indefinitely. The corresponding decree of President Vladimir Putin was published on the official Internet portal of legal information.

It is noted that large families will be provided with social support measures until the older child reaches the age of 18 or 23, provided that he or she is trained in an educational organization in full-time education.

In addition, the decree determines what support measures are provided at the federal level. These include the provision of benefits, assistance in the area of labour relations, the early granting of old-age insurance to women, the right to free access to museums, parks and recreation.

According to the document, the Government should establish a single model of the certificate confirming the status of a large family, as well as maintain a data bank of such families.

The regional authorities, for their part, should ensure the issuance of certificates to families, the registration of families and the social support measures provided to them, and the prioritization of the right to State assistance under a social contract. Measures to encourage parents with many children to become entrepreneurs and to inform families of the benefits to which they are entitled must also be implemented. They need to support organizations that work to strengthen the family.

In addition, regional leaders are encouraged to establish a number of social support measures. These include, for example, the provision of prescription drugs free of charge to children under six years of age, and the provision of housing and community services benefits of not less than 30 per cent of the statutory fee.
