Appeal decided positively

The Commissioner received an appeal from citizen A., who said that during the repair of the sidewalk and road pavement near the stopping point of public transport «Equestrian complex» and the residential complex «Azure shores» On Albert Kamaleyev Avenue, Kazan, tactile slabs for the visually impaired were removed. As part of the consideration of this appeal, we found that the said repair works were carried out in violation of building codes and regulations, According to which information for persons with visual impairments about their approach to high-risk areas should be provided by means of tactile contrasting ground pointers (tactile slabs) or by altering the surface of the pedestrian path with similar characteristics. In connection with the violations, we appealed to the Prosecutor’s Office of the Soviet District of Kazan, which confirmed our arguments and submitted to the Head of the Administration of the Soviet District a proposal to eliminate the violations identified.

It was to be hoped that efforts to address the violations identified would be speedily implemented and that the rights of people with limited mobility would be fully restored.
