The creation of a barrier-free environment for persons with disabilities is a priority for any developed society, as well as a topical area of State social policy.

The Human Rights Commissioner of the Republic of Tatarstan receives appeals from citizens regarding the organization of an accessible environment for persons with disabilities in sanatorium and resort institutions of the Republic of Tatarstan.

On October 25-26, 2023, an employee of the Office of the Human Rights Commissioner in the Republic of Tatarstan together with representatives of the Social Insurance Fund of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Tatarstan, The Tatar Republican Organization of the All-Russian Society of the Disabled «Society of the Republic of Tatarstan», in order to get acquainted with the activities, organization of work of sanatorium and resort institutions of the Republic of Tatarstan, with whom the Pension and Social Insurance Fund of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Tatarstan in 2023 were concluded State contracts to provide a preferential category of citizens with permits for sanatorium and resort treatment, was carried out, where particular attention was drawn to the availability of an accessible environment for persons with disabilities.

Some problematic issues have been identified in the field of unhindered access and movement of persons with disabilities.

As a result of the visit to the sanatorium and resort institutions of the Republic of Tatarstan, we will send recommendations to the heads of sanatoriums to take measures to protect the rights of persons with disabilities and persons with disabilities.

The issue of ensuring an accessible environment for everyone remains under the control of the Ombudsman in the Republic of Tatarstan.
