On May 30, the Federal Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova, at a 436 plenary meeting in the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, presented the Report on the activities of the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation for 2017 year.
Participation in the event was adopted by the Ombudsman for Human Rights in the Republic of Tatarstan, Sariya Saburskaya, the Chairman of the Coordinating Council of Commissioners for Human Rights in the Subjects of the Russian Federation of the Volga Federal District
Speaking to senators, the Federal Commissioner noted the contribution of the Federation Council in strengthening human rights and freedoms.
According to the Commissioner, in 2017, it was possible to protect the rights of foreign currency investors who fell into a difficult financial situation due to a sharp fall in the exchange rate.
Moreover, measures have been taken to ensure compliance with the housing rights of former servicemen on the territory of Crimea and Sevastopol, labor and social rights of Russian citizens at Baikonur.
Tatyana Moskalkova also noted the adopted law, allowing into Russian citizenship in a simplified order to citizens of Ukraine.
